Have you dabbled in in quilt piecing but would like to expand your techniques? This easy class is for the Advanced Beginner who is familiar with using a rotary cutter and ruler and stitching ¼ inch seams. Techniques included in the class are:

  • Improving Your Rotary Cutting
  • Improving your ¼ inch Seam Piecing
  • Making Half Square Triangles
  • Creating Setting Triangles

This is NOT a “How to Use a Sewing Machine” class, so you need to know how to operate your sewing machine. You need to know how to wind bobbins, thread the machine, change the feet, change the stitch length.

Supply List

  • Sewing machine in good working order
  • Everything that came with the machine including foot pedal and electric cord
  • ¼ inch foot (You may have to purchase that separately. Don’t wait for the day of the class!)
  • Sewing machine needles – size 80/12 (I prefer Topstitch needles. I do NOT like Universal needles)
  • Straight stitch plate (if you have one)
  • Piecing Thread size 50
  • Sewing machine manual
  • Cushion to sit on (seats are low)
  • Basic sewing kit including scissors, seam ripper, straight pins
  • Removable Fabric marker that will show up on this fabric – see *** below
  • Cutting Mat 18” x 24” (I prefer Olfa)
  • Rotary Cutter 45 mm (I prefer Olfa)
  • Long Ruler for Rotary Cutting (I prefer Omni Grid 6” x 24”)
  • Square Ruler for Rotary Cutting size 6” x 6” (or close to that size)
  • Sandpaper tabs made for back of rotary cutting rulers

Fabric Requirements - All Fabrics Pre-washed and Starched Please!

You can make the tablerunner just like I did, or change the colors. However, for fabric requirements, I am listing by the colors I used

  • White – 3/8 Yards*** (this is the fabric you need a removable fabric marker for)
  • Green – ½ Yard (Includes Binding)
  • Red – ¼ Yard
  • Red & White Setting Triangles – 5/8 Yard
  • 1 ½ yards for backing (you will not be using this in class)
