Brand New

The Mariner’s Compass block has long been part of the quilting tradition. However in the past it has traditionally been pieced by hand or intensely paper pieced.
Well, welcome to the 21st century technique developed by Robin Long of Robin Ruth Designs. She has developed amazing rulers, incredible direction and videos to share the technique for strip piecing a Mariner’s Compass. The possibilities are endless. While taking this class you will learn much about the rulers and achieve fabulous results!!
I will share endless ideas for projects.
Fat Robin Booklet and ruler required.

Each student will need to bring the following supplies and equipment for class:

REQUIRED (available at PS&V)

  • Fat/ Robin Mariner’s Compass Ruler
  • Fat/ RobinMariner’s Compass Book

  • 1/2 yard maximum of 4 (or more) coordinating fabrics
  • 1 fat quarter or at least a 12” square of fabric (this will be the circle at the center of your compass)
  • 3/4 yd. (minimum) background fabric (this is the fabric that the compass will be pieced into or appliquéd on to)

NOTE: This is an intermediate level class. It is a precision piecing technique that requires attention and focus the first time around. Cell phones on off please or at least vibrate in consideration of all students and the instructor.

Permission has been granted by Robin Long of Robin Ruth Designs to teach this and any other of her techniques/patterns. I have had much success teaching this class. Students are always amazed at the technique. Mind blowing….. Robin Long is a shear genius. I recommend this class for everyone!
