Join us in our classroom and create a custom pair of sneakers! Choose your fabrics to reflect your personal style or make a statement. You only need 3 fat quarters worth of fabric!* With Joan’s kit, you will make a pair of unique, one-of-a-kind sneakers.
Your kit includes sneaker soles, padded insoles and the sneaker pattern and guide. Any incidental materials will be supplied; you just need to come prepared with your fabrics, foam interlining and interfacing. We’ll be making hi-top sneakers, but you can opt for classic sneakers (like Keds.) The supply list is the same for both styles.
Instructor will have leather punches and eyelet setting tools to lend. (If you have a 2mm leather punch and/or a 3/16” eyelet setting punch and anvil set, bring them along.)
Please make sure that you indicate what size shoe you need, and if you prefer black or white soles when you register! These must be ordered in advance—please register by April 21st. Email your shoe size and sole color to [email protected]
Kit fee is non-refundable due to the soles being custom ordered!
The soles are sized in European sizing. Please refer to the conversion chart. They are more likely to run big, so we recommend sizing down if you are in between sizes.
Please note that soles are not available for sizes under 36 (US 5.5-6), and above 47 ( US 13.5-14).
Supply List:
- 1⁄4 yard of quilt weight cotton for upper; Fat Quarter preferred (18” x 22”)
- 1⁄2 yard of quilt weight cotton for lining; Fat Quarter preferred (18” x 22”)
- Quilt weight cotton for tongue; 10” square is plenty.
- 4 pieces of 1.75” wide bias strips, each 18” long. Your bias can match or contrast with your exterior—your choice!
- Sewing Machine
- Sewing notions – pins/quilting clips, tape measure, etc.
- Matching thread
- Marking pencil
- ¾ yard Pellon Double Sided Fusible Foam
- ¾ yard Pellon SF101
*for sizes over 42, you will need a half-yard of upper and lining fabric.
Class Cancellation Policy
To reserve a seat, all Pocono Sew & Vac classes must be paid in full upon registration. In the event that a student needs to cancel their reservation for a class, they should notify PS&V at least 7 days in advance (by phone) to be eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 7 days before class will not be issued a refund.
If a class does not have the minimum number of participants 7 days prior to class day, the teacher will cancel class. The customer will be fully refunded within 7 to 10 business days. Any questions call PS&V at 800-442-8227.
Some classes require homework to be done before class, such as cutting/prepping fabrics. If homework is required, it will be posted in the class description. Please read the class description thoroughly before signing up before a class. If homework is not done by the start of class, you will not be able to attend, and a refund will not be issued.
