Keep your work area from being overrun by thread and fabric clutter when you stash your cast-offs in this generously sized scrap catcher. Whether you are right or left-handed, a removeable weighted pillow (pincushion) sits atop the work surface on whichever side is convenient for you. Decorate the front of the scrap catcher by bringing heirloom style cathedral windows. Additionally add a small scissor holder. Make several in your favorite colors or prints and place them wherever you choose to work.
This is a Martha Pullen project class taught by a Licensed Martha Pullen Instructor. Written instructions are provided.
Supply List:
- 1/3 yd. Fabric A for outside, pincushion cover, straps
- 1/3 yd. Fabric B for inside, pincushion insert, cathedral window
- Optional: Rip-stop nylon fabric can be used for inside of scrap catcher
- 18” aquarium tubing (1/4” diameter) – will be provided
- 1 to 1.5 cups of rice, sand or crushed walnuts for filling insert (crushed walnuts will be provided)
- Thread to match fabric
- #70 or #80 universal machine needle
- Wash-away fabric marker
- Sewing machine in good working order and knowledge of the machine, power cord, foot controller, manual and any accessories. ¼” foot helpful.
- Basic Sewing Supplies, such as:
- Glass head pins and/or wonder clips
- Scissors/cutting tools
- Rotary mat, cutter and ruler (optional)
- Quilting ruler with grid
- Metal Seam Gauge
- Seam Ripper
- Other miscellaneous sewing notions
Class Cancellation Policy
To reserve a seat, all Pocono Sew & Vac classes must be paid in full upon registration. In the event that a student needs to cancel their reservation for a class, they should notify PS&V at least 7 days in advance (by phone) to be eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 7 days before class will not be issued a refund.
If a class does not have the minimum number of participants 7 days prior to class day, the teacher will cancel class. The customer will be fully refunded within 7 to 10 business days. Any questions call PS&V at 800-442-8227.
Some classes require homework to be done before class, such as cutting/prepping fabrics. If homework is required, it will be posted in the class description. Please read the class description thoroughly before signing up before a class. If homework is not done by the start of class, you will not be able to attend, and a refund will not be issued.
